What are the Perks of Being in Food for Thought?

Students get to be part of a supportive small group of peers and caring adults that encourage growth and experimentation.

Students learn basic cooking skills and the ability to cook specific meals at home that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Students gain an appreciation for healthy ingredients and the way sharing a good meal with others builds community.

What Happens Each Program Day?

Students enjoy snacks after school at The Bridge and then walk over to Second Reformed Church’s kitchen.

Students work with skilled community members who teach the basics of nutrition, food preparation, and cooking techniques.

Students prepare and cook a meal each program session that they can take home along with written instructions to make the meal again from home.

The program culminates in students preparing a meal to share with their families at the end of the year.
