The Skills for Life Program Purpose

Skills for Life offers outings for students where they have opportunities to get direct contact with employers in potential career paths. Students tour local places of employment and educational programs who introduce a variety of skills, jobs, and opportunities so that they can make more informed job and schooling decisions for the future.

What are the Perks of Taking Part in Skills for Life?

Students get first-hand exposure to a variety of workplaces, learning about day-to-day employment, compensation, career advancement, and other benefits.

Students gain knowledge of the steps that are required to work in specific fields, helping them to become more informed decision makers about their future schooling and job training.

Students and employers have direct conversations, receive feedback from one another, and build a network of new connections, which can lead to more mutually beneficial employment opportunities.

Students travel to workplaces and further educational institutions, getting individualized tours and plenty of chances to ask questions and explore the types of jobs available at each employer.

Students take guided notes during their visits regarding the workplace and are given a chance to debrief about what they learned.
